Blah
I have not been inspired to wear anything except an Aeropostale hoodie and a pair of American Eagle jeans or American Apparel harem pants, due to the depression, studying at the library and rain lately. This is me in "Save For Later!" tee shirt from AE.

Little Bibelots that make me happy lately...
These trinklets are small but oh so cute. I got the earrings in Harlem, the woman was selling them for 1 buck a pair. What a great deal.
And these - these were found in a Shiloh store next to my house. They were on the expensive side - 6 dollars but I developed strange liking towards them, and could not resist.

It was a rainy day, after all...
As the title of today's posting suggests, LA is smitten with a nasty rain storm that has been devastating the surroundings (and my morale) for already four days. God, I hate rains. Rains suck. And as a protest, I put my Urban Outfitters polka dot swimsuit on, with my green Everlast shoes, and went outside to take a few photos.
I struggled all day to upload a cool hip video of my photo sequence on this blog, but could not succeed - the format I have is too large and I have no idea how to compress or resize it without losing the quality. Argh.
Of course, the primary star of the posting is the sleek green boxing shoe that I wear in my every day life and to my cardio fitness classes. They are super comfy and I can jump in them. Or even dance in them. I was probably the main advertiser of the Everlast brand in my local YMCA - after a year of humble "promotion" I already count a few females following suit. Atta-Girls!
I got them for only 20 bucks on some boxing equipment site.

Film Noir
I like to put on certain outfits I would not be caught in outside, and take semi weird pictures. I call such leisure time my "Film Noir" outbursts... The photo upstairs - One Ear Dog Frog 80-s inspired blouse, American Apparel transparent leggings, transparent puffy undies over... fake eyelashes...
Downstairs - a swimsuit that I purchased online for about $10, and the wig.... the short blond wig is from Ozzy Dots - a halloween/masquerade/vintage store on Hollywood Boulevard.
Urban Outfitters (I think) glossy leggings. I can be mistaken though. Pink ballet inspired petticoat, simple white tank.

Cocktails with Bibb
Sarah Bibb is my guru, my wonderful, absolutely mind boggling and memorable American friend. I love SB like that sister I never had. And it sucks tons that we were brought up in such different cultures and in different eras, that frankly speaking prevents us from being the best friends and living one porch away form each other and gossiping about penises and balls.
Alas.
Nevertheless, I openly declare - I love Sarah Bibb and naturally, when my older sis came to LA for a couple of days, I rushed to see her and even did not mind a company of mostly unknown people to hang with.
And of course, since Bibster is a great designer and a very creative person, I wore her signature One Ear Dog Frog 80-s inspired shirt that she made especially for me a few years ago. I put an Urban Outfitters thermal underneath, paired it all with THE BEST PANTS OF ALL TIMES from Zara (which I bought in Florence, oh mia bella Italia, oh when are we going to see each other again?)
And of course - my ubiquitous red lipstick from NYC. God, I love it. And my ubiquitous red pomegranate ear rings.
Clarissa was a tad frisky this evening, and all she threw on was a shrug that I bought loooong time ago from Delia's site (and which hardly covered Clarisska's frisky boobies), a wonderful absolutely cool checkered wrap around vintage skirt I found in PopKiller store (the one on Sunset Boulevard, next to the Toi Thai restaurant), and the brown belt I got at a Melrose store for very cheap. I adorned her with Old Navy yellow beads necklace.
Isn't she a cutie?
Here is a funny pic - no idea what I was looking for back there but by seeing my touche you can see the playful bow Sarah likes to attach to her shirts.
And yes, it's been raining two days straight in LA, I am still rocking the Polka Dot boots.
And I kept this pic only bc I LOVE looking at my little Murzi-poo there, on the left side, looking at me with her usual WTF?! expression.

Rainy day in LA
LA has officially received Winter - and we are surviving the rainy days. Besides that, I managed to go on a date this evening. I looked at the guy's pix just before I was leaving the house and knew right away there would be no spark. Yet, I don't flake, so I just dressed more than casual and put my rainy boots on. And made a point of drinking just one beer. Period. Which I did.
Clarissa was reluctant at first but then agreed to throw a quick shirt/dress over her Banana Republic shift. I added the brooch made of shells and my H&M belt that Kitty gnawed a little in the past. The scarf is a semi silky Thai creation, gifted to me by my good buddy Andre, who works for Novica.
I am wearing my recent signature red lipstick (one dollar and nine cents, NYC), Sasch skinny jeans that were bought in Moscow on the spur of the moment, regretted tremendously later and loved insanely another later after. Green knitted shift/tunic from Urban Outfitters (I think), and two pins - a Dutch boy and a girl kissing (bought in Holland, Michigan) and a felt flower given to me by my Turkish friend Ayse. My jacket is a military inspired creation from Forever 21 label. It's half wool, unacceptable for the moth that lives in our apartment, yet very comfy and cute for me.
And boots, of course my rain polka dot boots. Bought on probably Alloy site looooong rainy years ago...

Last Thanksgiving (2009)
My Thanksgiving celebrations start at around 2004.
In 2004 I was in San Francisco, pigging out on Chinese food - the only places open on Thanksgiving day.
In 2005 I was at my ex husband's family celebration in Detroit, Michigan.
In 2006 I was at my ex boy friend's family celebration in Woodland Hills, California (the worst celebration - because they all were so extremely disorganized and did not have any meat-LESS dish, so that I left hungry).
In 2007 I had the Best Thanksgiving EVER. I am sure it can even top YOUR average Thanksgiving! I was giving my thanks at a Caribbean restaurant on St.John's island, where my roomie and I rented a wonderful villa with our own pool and a hungry batch of island cats who we fed chicken and salami but did not manage to catch.
In 2008 I was on a huge cruise liner out in the open Mexican waters of the Pacific, eating a very decent meal in a semi empty restaurant aboard.
In 2009 I went to Arizona. Portobello mushroom sandwich at Granny's Closet, three million flat screens with football games around, yells of semi drunk fans and an icy cold IPA. Bliss. And later - The Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon and my 60-s inspired orange and black and white ensemble. It was probably the most colorful Thanksgiving I had.
Orange v neck sweater from H&M. Black pants form ZARA - best best best harem inspired black pant ever. Thick cotton turns into elastic leggins-like bottom. My faithful converse, special edition of some guy named Paul (they have holes in them already), H&M white scarf, Roxy white knitted hat, and pink leg warmers I bought three centuries ago in Moscow. Glasses are from Urban Outfitters and the bag is from Fossil (I hated to pay $80 for it but it is indeed a solid and cool looking bag).
I love cats and hairbands
Illustrations as an example.
This wonderful beaded hairband was bought by me at the lower division of H&M - Divided. Not too comfy but very cute.
The cat was not bought by me, it was gifted.
Adopted by me, in other words. It was a free find that devastated my bank account later on, through vets, pills, injections, vaccinations, shampoos, toilet crystals, etc etc
Worth every penny!!
ps/ Some pix were taken, of course, when I was still a blondie.
Red Head
Since I colored my hair in a slightly redder tone, the tint has washed away slightly, of course, but this is what I looked like on the day I did it.
Again, me and Clarissa, deux paramours.
I am wearing a green mini dress of which origin I have no idea, a bright yellow woven belt with a metallic buckle I bought at one of the Melrose avenue stores. I am sporting, naturally, my new shade of hair.
Clarissa is sporting a dress from Alloy web site (it is very transparent, so I always have to wear it with a slip), a fun turquoise belt with a flower buckle (maybe from Urban Outfitters, but again, I can be mistaken), her ubiquitous Gap snake scarf and a funky Jamaican rasta-hat, bought on St Thomas in the Caribbean, from an island man.
I am a red head! Meeaaow!
La Llorona
I love Spanish. A few years ago I bought a manual, sat down, and taught myself this beautiful language. It took me 6 months. Then I read Cien Anos de Soledad. And fell in love. Hence the history and the culture of Latin America and of course Spain play a very important role in my life. I do believe that I might grow old somewhere in Argentina. I do want to study film somewhere in Madrid one day.
But for now, although having thin transparent Slavic features of the daughter of the big cold North, I like to dress up in colorful skirts, wear colorful earrings and scarves, and sing Spanish songs.
Skirt - from some "grown up" women clothing site - a gift from my room mate. Shirt - Delias. Earrings - bought in San Diego on the New Year's Eve, from a Latin American woman, at 2 bucks a pair. Shawl - a gift from my friend Ayse. Bracelets - all from local US stores, bought on the cheap.
99 cents store trip
Well, as a friend of mine told me - being unemployed and starving does not mean that I should sit at home and cry over the absence of job interviews after thousands of sent out resumes. She said she wakes up every day and drives to a hipster coffee shop to get a latte. "I do it with determination, with the clear I've got a purpose look on my face", she said, "I am on a mission!" I decided to get on a mission, too. So now even a regular drive to the 99 cents store will be performed in my Sunday's best, so to speak. I am not dead yet.
The skirt is the recent RODARTE creation for Target, and I snatched the last one in size 9 (thank god those are Junior sizes and obviously based on European Juniors who look as they are supposed to look and not like overweight piglets, like in certain places I know). When I was in the fitting room, I overheard two women speaking about it and one remarked, Why? Why are they selling out to Target? - "Oh goodness" I wanted to reply, - Why don't you just sew that stupid mouth of yours? It's publicity, very good market earnings, and hell, why not? It's not a regular line, anyway! And thank god they do. I love my yellow skirt for 29.99. I am unemployed, yet still beautiful, dammit."
The turtleneck is probably from La Redoute. It has buttons on the sleeves up until the elbow and slight pleating on the chest. Turtlenecks are not my thing but this one I love.
I tried to show the boots - hence the awkward dork pose - one of my first Delia purchases a few years ago. Shabby worn but still good.
Clarissa did not change from last Monday, so she just threw a quick Gap multicolor snake of a scarf on. Apologies for my mess, I live in a very small apartment, and have a very small room stuffed with my room mate's belongings (my roomie is a pack rat of the worst kind).
Lunch with the girls
Triumvirate had their usual gathering last Monday and I jumped out of the house dressed like this. I am here in the picture together with Clarissa, my faithful soft friend. I am wearing a Gap buttonless loose cardigan (as I call it) in wonderful bordeaux, paired with an American Eagle belted dress (I had to cut the loops for the belt off as they seemed to be sewn too low - wtf, Eagle???).
On my feet I wore green soft faux-suede booties I got on Alloy site or something of the kind ages ago and never really wore much - and too bad because they are absolutely comfy and cool and have just about the right amount of heel I can tolerate.
Clarissa is wearing a shift dress by Banana Republic and some trinklets I got here and there, in Italy and in the USA. The belt is probably from Aeropostale but I could be mistaken.
